DQR Group, a major player in the blockchain sector, is establishing its headquarters in Malta, creating 200 jobs, the government said.

Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri welcomed the announcement, saying this was another step to making Malta the obvious choice for companies operating in this sphere.

“Their presence will cement Malta’s reputation as The Blockchain Island”, he said.

He said that talks are underway on the drawing up of educational programmes to ensure that skilled manpower is available.

Chief Executive Officer Kristian Haehndal said that Malta would undoubtedly become the worldwide epicentre of the blockchain ecosystem in the near future and DQR Group was proud to contribute to its foundation.

DQR Group is a conglomerate of DQR, DQR-X, DQR-GIVE, and DQR-Services, with well-established partners Genesis Mining, Blockchain Consulting, Logos Fund, and Draglet.

It currently employs around 65 employees and has invested €6 million in operations in Malta based in two offices in Sliema.
