I would like to express my appreciation, indeed my admiration, for the way George Vella, a former deputy leader of the Labour Party, has come out in defence of principles that do not change with time or circumstances.

When referring to the proposed legislation regarding IVF, the Prime Minister spoke enthusiastically about the changes already made in this regard which, he claimed “are making Malta more beautiful”.

However, his former Cabinet colleague described these changes as “a complete travesty of ethics, morality and human dignity”.

Pity his strong influence will be missing when the changes to the IVF law being proposed by the government in the name of “progress”, “freedom” and “equality” (which will, no doubt, pave the way for abortion), will soon be voted upon in Parliament.
