A video of a speeding taxi driver crashing through a kerb after driving dangerously in Luqa had Malta's motorcycle community delighting in a dose of schadenfreude on Wednesday morning.

The video, shot using a motorcyclist's helmet cam, shows the taxi driver speeding past on the outer lane before cutting back in front of the motorcycle to make a sudden left turn.

"He tailgated me at high speed, cut me up, overtook me and at the last minute decided to turn left," fumed the motorcyclist on Facebook group Malta Motorcycles

It didn't take long for the cab driver to get what was coming to him - or her.

As the motorcyclist drivers past, the taxi can be seen misjudging the turn and bumping over the kerb, thankfully missing a lamppost by a whisker.

"He didn't make the turn hit the high kerb and kaboom, totalled it," the motorcyclist wrote. "INSTANT KARMA."

Many took delight in the turn of events - "so satisfying," purred one Facebook user beneath the video - though as at least one person pointed out, the incident could have had far worse repercussions.

"It would have been terrible had someone been trying to cross the road and gotten hurt or even killed," they noted.
