The government should consider having a tunnel for a metro train system between Malta and Gozo rather than a car tunnel. There will be many advantages even during the construction stage.
A metro train tunnel would have two vertical shafts close to the terminal (one in Malta and another in Gozo). They will be fitted with elevators and emergency stairs, then linked with a horizontal tunnel from the bottom through which the train will pass. A car tunnel would need a good gradient that will start from L-Imbordin, in St Paul’s Bay and ends in Nadur.
A metro train tunnel will have less construction waste, perfect timing, safer, no traffic congestions and no parking problems.
