Tenor Alan Sciberras will sing excerpts from romantic operatic arias as Sofia Narmania performs piano solos during a midday concert at St Augustine Monastery, Valletta, tomorrow, starting at noon.
Mr Sciberras will focus mainly on Italian composers Verdi, Puccini and Rossini.
The programme includes Puccini’s Tosca, Turandot and La Bohème, followed by Verdi’s La Traviata, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Cilea’s opera L’Arlesiana.
A prelude from La Traviata, Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana and Chopin’s Berceuse Op. 57 and Étude Op. 10No.12 will be in Narmania’s programme.
Tickets can be obtained from the venue itself, 30 minutes before the concert starts. Proceeds will go to the Augustinian Monastery restoration project.
At the end of the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to see the chambers of the monastery for free.
The oratory at the church of St Francis, in Valletta, will be the venue on Thursday for Bach Cello Suites to be performed by Lucie Kucharova.
The cello suites, considered to be among Bach’s greatest achievements, are structured in various movements – prelude, allemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets or two bourrées or two gavottes, and a final gigue.
The performance starts at noon.
