The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers.

The Sunday Times of Malta reports that farmers are being approached to sell their fields to prospective cannabis cultivators – and the struggling crop growers are viewing the offer as a lifeline. It also reports comments by the Vicar General on the need to make the celebration of Mass more meaningful.

MaltaToday says it was the police who asked a magistrate to retrieve Daphne Caruana Galizia's  laptop. It also reports that an official inquiry is under way into allegations that former minister and Labour MP Charles Buhagiar, now chairman of the Building Advisory Council, handed his official BMW to his wife for the past three years, and leased another official car for himself. 

The Malta Independent asks if people have noticed an increase in their electricity bills, and explains why. It also quotes the Health Minister saying single men can also benefit from IVF treatment. 

It-Torċa leads with criticism of the building housing the CDAU, a unit which provides services for children with disabilities. It also reports that there is anger within the PN following reports that the Opposition leader's wife is to engage a personal assistant. 

Illum says Malta is breaking EU rules when it bans gays from donating blood.
