The Choir of Lincoln College, Oxford, will be giving a choral recital entitled Darkness to Light in Valletta, tomorrow.

The programme, specially chosen to express the transition between Lent and the Resurrection, will include excerpts from Bruckner’s Christus Factus est, Bairstow’s Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, Gibbons’s Almighty and Everlasting God, Monteverdi’s Adoramus te Christe, Tye’s Gloria (from Missa Euge Bone), Taverner’s Dum Transisset Sabbatum, Paulus’s The Road Home and Macmillan’s O Radiant Dawn.

The Choir of Lincoln College holds a reputation as one of the finest mixed-voice chapel choirs at the University of Oxford.  Having between 16 and 18 members, the choir gives talented singers the opportunity to make music in an intimate setting at a detailed and high level.

During term time, the choir’s modest commitment includes a weekly Sunday evensong and Wednesday evening rehearsal, with the occasional additional service for major church and college feast days. This allows the choir to pursue concert and touring schedules outside of the busy university term time.

The event is organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa in collaboration with maestro di cappella Hamish Dustagheer and Mgr Victor Zammit McKeon, pro rector of St John’s Co-Cathedral.

The concert will be held at the church of Our Lady of Victories in Valletta, tomorrow, at 7.30pm.

Reservations are possible against a donation of €20 per person to Din l-Art Ħelwa, 133 Melita Street, Valletta VLT 1123, or through the website dinlarthelwa.org/donations, or directly from the church of Our Lady of Victories, Valletta. For more information, send an e-mail to admin@ dinlarthelwa. org.

Any proceeds are dedicated to Din l-Art Ħelwa’s restoration programme for the church.
