The Għaqda Drammatika Għajnsielem, in collaboration with Għajnsielem local council and Fort Chambray Limited, presented a re-enactment of the Lord’s Supper and the Passion of Jesus Christ. The dramatised version of the Way of the Cross, Kont Hemm (I Was There), was based on reflections by St John Paul II. The Pope’s Passion message, read for the first time in 1991, could be compared to the tragedies we are living today – loneliness, distress, illness, bullying, sorrow, abuse and the killing of innocent people. The Way of the Cross started from Ta’ Passi fields in Għajnsielem, where Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem is staged, and proceeded to Fort Chambray where the Passion pageant unfolded in front of hundreds of spectators.Scriptwriter JoAnne Debrincat directed a cast of around 60 actors, while Franco Ciangura was responsible for the artistic direction.
