Enthusiasts of the traditional regatta can today follow the races from Fort St Angelo’s bastions for a reduced price of €2.

The regatta programme starts at 1pm and promises five hours of spectacle with the best crews forming part of the rowing teams from seven localities. The rowers participate in 10 races under two different categories using typical traditional Maltese boats such as frejgatini, kajjikki and dgħajjes tal-pass and tal-midalji.

During the day, members of the Malta Historical Fencing Association will be present at the fort to show off their skills. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit the upper part of Fort St Angelo, managed by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta at an additional cost.

Apart from the normal guided tour held every day at 11am, another two extra guided tours will be organised on the day, one starting at noon and the other at 1pm. Maximum attendance for each tour is 50 people.

The fort will be open today between 9am and 6pm, with the last entry at 5.30pm.  For more information about Heritage Malta’s activities, visit www.heritagemalta.org.
