A Brussels resident found an innovative way to draw attention to the poor state of pubic roads.

Anton Schuurmans started planting flowers in unrepaired potholes a few weeks ago and makes sure to keep them watered.

Schuurmans, who is on the staff of political party CD&V, told a Belgian newspaper that one of the holes in a street he had recently filled with a flower had actually been repaired. “So voila. Maybe someone noticed. Just a few thousand more to go.”
