Gaulitana: A Festival of Music continues today with the first talk from the ‘TALK re u’ series entitled ‘The historical clarinet’.

In this first session, Angelo Litrico will discuss the history of the clarinet’s development through various period instruments.  This presentation will preview tomorrow’s concert of early 18th-century music performed on historical clarinet, basset horn and historical guitar.

Clarinet player, teacher and researcher in musicology, Litrico’s repertoire ranges from the late baroque to the historical 20th century.

A follower of historically informed practice, for years he devoted himself to the research of the repertoire for his instrument and to the history and development of the single-reed, information that he shares in seminars and masterclasses held at various Italian and foreign music schools. He is the editor of a series of chamber music books for wind instrument.

The talk will be held at the University of Malta Gozo Campus in Xewkija at 7.30pm. For more information about the festival, send an e-mail to gaulitanafestival@gmail.com or visit www.gaulitanus.com.
