A battling display from the U-21 national team was not enough to secure a positive result as the U-20 selection of Switzerland emerged winners by three goals to one. 

Switzerland forged ahead when Kwadwo Duah danced his way into the box and found Michel Aebischer all alone inside the eighteen and the latter hit the ball past Jake Galea.

Switzerland doubled their past the hour mark, when Vasilije Janjicic blasted the pall past a helpless Vella.

Nonetheless, Malta managed to found a way through and pull one back after Nwoko dispossessed his marker and in front of goal, he finished calmly into the net. 

However, the Swiss side managed to seal the win when Ruben Vargas sent the ball towards goal but it was Dunstan Vella who accidentally directed it into his own net.
