Ezio Bosso was at the top of his game when he was diagnosed with a degenerative condition in 2011. Just months later he was diagnosed with a brain tumour which wiped out his ability to read and write.

Yet, the composer, pianist, conductor and double bass player, refused to let the condition mute his music and has since rebuilt an impressive repertoire.

"Music is my driver, and I’m the passenger," the multi-award winning Italian musician tells Times of Malta.

Performing with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Bosso will be playing at a sold-out concert at the Manoel Theatre on Sunday in aid of the Malta Community chest fund.

Now wheelchair-bound, Bosso says music helped his reconcile with his condition.

"Music gave me the discipline and the curiosity and especially the discipline to practice every day."
