ABLETT. On March 8, in Cessnock, Australia, MARY (Maria), née Borg, went to meet the Risen Christ. She leaves to mourn her great loss, her sons Alan and Arthur and his wife Jarmila, her beloved grandchildren Jesse, Ryan, Brody and Jade, her sisters Joyce, Violet and her husband Robert, Margaret and her husband Saviour, Yvonne, Gladys, her brother Hector and his wife Tessie and her sister-in-law Ines. A mass for the repose of her soul will be said on Wednesday, March 28 at St Julians parish church at 9 am. The attendance of family and friends will be very appreciated.

ANASTASI. On March 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTOINETTE (Lina), née Anastasi, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband of 63 years, Emanuel; her daughter Simone and her husband Ramon Borg Bartolo, her son Patrick and his wife Lorraine, her grandchildren James and his wife Roberta, David and his wife Adriana, Christine and her husband Christian, Hena-Marie, Stephanie and Nicolette, her great-grandchildren Nathan and Maria, her sisters Carrie and her husband Ronnie, Jessie and her husband Paul, Meme’ widow of Guido, her brother George and his wife Doris, Mary widow of her brother Alfred, her in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The celebration of Mass præsente cadavere will be said on Saturday, March 24 at 8.30am at Our Lady of Carmelite Church, Balluta, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Villa Mons. Gonzi, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. May she rest in peace.

BRIFFA. On March 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, Dr PAUL BRIFFA of Valletta, a week away from his 90th birthday, went to meet the risen Lord. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Diane and her husband John Caruana, Norman and his wife Susan, and Claire and her husband Charles Zahra, his treasured grandchildren, Abigail, Nathan and his wife Graziella, Paul and his girlfriend Julia, and Michela, his sister Carmen Macelli, his nephews, nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Thursday, March 22 at 2pm for the Annunciation of Our Lady parish church, Balzan, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Ursuline Crèche, Guardamangia, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. His family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Casa Antonia, Balzan, the doctors, nurses and staff at Neuro-Medical Ward, Mater Dei Hospital.

MELI. On March 11, ZACHARY DAVID (Zack), aged 24, from Tal-Ibraġ. He will always be loved and remembered by his parents David and Anna, his sisters Alberta and Leonie, Alberta’s husband Neil and their son Jack, uncles, aunties, their respective families, other relatives and many friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, March 24, at 1.30pm for Tal-Ibraġ parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. The family would appreciate if instead of flowers donations be sent in his name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Count Roger Band in Holy Week celebrations

The Count Roger Band will perform works by Chappell, Vella, Rodrigo, Schembri, Abela and Bach at the St Paul’s Collegiate Proto-Parish Church, Rabat, on Saturday, March 24, at 7.30pm as part of the Holy Week celebrations. The band will be conducted by its musical director Mro James Chappell.

On Good Friday, the Rabat Band will play funeral marches in the procession that leaves St George’s Basilica in Victoria, Gozo, at 5.30pm.

It will play religious marches and Vincenzo Ciappara’s Innu Lil Kristu Rxoxt during the Easter Sunday procession with the statue of the Risen Christ which leaves St Paul’s Collegiate Proto-Parish Church at 10am.
