AQUILINA. On March 19, at Simblija Care Home, JULIAN (know as Ġiljan), of Swieqi (St Andrews Farm/Garden View Complex), aged 81, went to meet the Risen Lord after a short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary Rose née Bezzina, his son Joe and his wife Iona, his treasured granddaughter Emma, his brothers Karmenu and Cikku, his nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Simblija Care Home tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21, at 1.45pm for the parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of the Church, Ibrag, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm followed by interment in the fa­mily vault at Mosta Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. His family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff both at Mater Dei Hospital – Ward M3 – and Simblija Care Home for their care and dedication.

BUSUTTIL. On March 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 92, widower of Bridget née Vella, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Blanche and her husband Albert Mamo, his sons Herbert and his wife Monica and Claude, his grandchildren Danielle, Rachel, Sarah, their husbands and Gabrielle, his six great-grandchildren, his brother Michael Busuttil, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21, at 9.15am for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. PACE. On March 18, at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, JESSIE of Żurrieq, aged 63, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss, her daughters Lorna and Sandra and their spouses, her grandchildren Tiffany and Riley John, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortége leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21, at 2.15pm for the St Catherine’s parish church,  Żurrieq, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 3pm followed by interment in the family grave at San Nicholas Cemetery, Qrendi. No flowers by request but donations to id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA. On March 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, MGR CHARLES G. VELLA, born in Sliema on June 27, 1928, and ordained priest on December 8, 1954, was called by Jesus the Eternal Priest from a life lived for families and the sick. Founder of the Cana Movement and director at San Raffaele Hospital, Milan. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters Mary, widow of John Zammit, Lydia and her husband Cecil Blake, his brother Alfred, his nephews and nieces Anna Zammit, Dorothy and Richard Galea Debono, Mark Zammit and his partner Marielle, Audrey and Mark Xuereb, James and Sheryl Ann Blake, and Lara Vella, together with his grand-nephews and nieces and their respective children, and other relatives and numerous friends in Malta and Italy, among them his collaborator Antonio Strizzi. The funeral cortège will leave Mater Dei Hospital on Thursday, March 22, at 8.15am for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where a celebration Mass to thank God for the gift of Fr Charles will be celebrated by His Excellency the Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna at 8.45am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to the Cana Movement or Dar tal-Kleru would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the Sisters, carers and staff at Dar tal-Kleru, together with doctors, nurses and staff at the Renal Unit and Diabetic Foot Ward at Mater Dei Hospital. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VELLA. On March 18, MARIA, née Agius, of Qrendi, aged 71, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Alfred, her daughters Simone and her husband Frederick Clark, Jeanette and her husband Omar Busuttil, her beloved grandchildren Matthew, Francesca, Martina, Jacob and Kate, her brothers and sisters, Charles, Laurence, Pauline, Joe, Angelo, Reno, Rev. Mgr. Emmanuel Agius, Lourdes, Rosario, and Bernardette, her in-laws, their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Wednesday, March 21 at 2.30pm for St Mary parish church, Qrendi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated 3.30pm followed by interment at Qrendi cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BORG – PAUL. Treasured memo­ries of a dear father, today being the 53rd anniversary of his death. Always in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Never forgotten, always remembered with love and affection by his daughter Jane Testaferrata Moroni Viani and his son Tony and his wife Maria, and their respec­tive families, his grandchildren and great-grand­children. Lord, grant him eternal rest. Tomorrow’s 8.30am Mass at St John of the Cross parish church, Ta’ Xbiex, will be offered for the repose of his soul. A prayer is kindly solicited.

BORG – VICTOR. On the 21st anniversary of his death. Always remembered by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

On Friday, March 23 the 6pm Mass at Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of her soul.

VELLA – GODFREY. Treasured memories of a beloved husband, father and grandfather on the 20th anniversary of his death. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by Lucienne, Marylene, Stephen and Alexia.
