This year marks a special milestone in the Franks story, as the fragrance and cosmetic retailer enters its 125th anniversary.

Its humble beginnings take us back to 1893, to the naval shore of Cospicua Wharf. Here, Salvatore Abela first opened the doors of Franks Bazaar, a modest shop selling an array of quintessential products of the era, from men’s grooming products to theatre binoculars.

With the passing of time, the business developed into the hands of four generations. In 1979, Lauro Abela took up the business with a new vision in sight. His ambitions spread the brand all over the island, growing Franks into the prestigious, luxury retailer it is today with seven stores spread throughout Malta’s main commercial areas.

This year marks the celebration of 125 years of success for the local brand. With heritage guiding its path and a new generation shaping its future, Franks will continue to open the door of luxury and lifestyle to Malta for years to come.
