A photo contest has been launched aimed at promoting gender equality in transition phases at school, at work and at society at large.
The contest, called #getup_project, invites participants to express, through original photos, stereotypes and gender differences in education, training and career, imagining a future free from gender inequality.
The three photo subjects are #wasteoftalent, #genderpaygap and #worklifebalance.
Participants may send up to three photos on any one or more of the themes, adding a short text describing the photo. The deadline for submission is March 22.
The competition is part of the project entitled ‘Gender Equality Training to Overcome Unfair Discrimination Practices in Education and Labour Market’ (Get Up), which involves eight international partners, including the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT). It is coordinated by the Italian Labour Trade Union (UIL).
The project seeks to address the stereotyping of educational and career choices and to promote gender equality in education, training and career guidance. It also aims to create more awareness on the importance that work practices promote gender equality, and do not reinforce stereotypes, gender segregation and inequalities.
The project is co-funded by the EU’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship/Justice Programme.
