I could not believe the article on Winston Churchill (March 3). Rodolfo Ragonesi, lawyer and researcher on international affairs, must have attended the same spin doctor as the renowned Michael Owen.

Firstly, if under the command of Churchill, the British and Allied forces had not defeated Adolf Hitler and the Axis forces he would not even be writing such a column because there would be no free speech and only one paper: the one of party propaganda.

Secondly, had Churchill not engineered such a turn around after Dunkirk and liberated Europe, thus preventing the concentration camps and gas chambers killing more Jews, homosexuals, non-Aryan humans, we would not have had multicultural societies that practise free speech, same-sex marriages and the right to protest on whatever we like, whenever we like.

Thirdly, Joseph Muscat and his men would not be robbing you blind as you would be at the behest of the Fuehrer.

Fourthly, there would be no freedom of choice and no internet. You would be attending rallies as in North Korea, saluting the leader.

I could go on for ages but, as one can see, although Churchill had a few bad points he certainly did us proud. Or would we rather be blonde-haired, blue-eyed and marching round with a swastika on our arm shouting: sieg heil.

I do not think so.
