Air Malta will start operating a twice weekly scheduled service to Tarbes/Lourdes starting from June 29.

The flights will be on Mondays and Fridays.

Air Malta chairman Charles Mangion announced the new route saying the airline had started opening the route as a charter destination in March 1988 and has operated it incessantly as a charter service since. The route is being offered in conjunction with Brittania Travel.

In the past 30 years, the airline carried around 6,000 passengers each year to and from Lourdes and the change to a scheduled service was intended to increase traffic.
