Sr Annie Demerjian (pictured), who works with volunteers on projects to help war victims in Syria, will share her experiences at a public talk today at 5pm in the church of the Good Shepherd, Balzan.

Risking her life to deliver aid at the centre of the conflict engulfing Syria, Sr Demerjian knows the situation on the ground in Aleppo and Damascus better than most people. As the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo deepened, she co-ordinated a team of volunteers to go house-to-house assessing needs and providing basic help, especially for the sick and elderly trapped in Aleppo. The team helped those in desperate need with food, fuel for heating, electricity, drinking water and warm clothes.

Sr Demerjian is now based in her hometown of Damascus, where she continues to provide humanitarian and pastoral care, at great personal risk.

Sr Annie Demerjian’s 90-minute talk will be held today at 5pm in the church of the Good Shepherd, Balzan. It will include recent video clips from Syria. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a place, call ACN Malta 2148 7818 or e-mail info@acnmalta.org.
