Finance Minister Professor Edward Scicluna officially opened the new office of Western Union Business Solutions at the W Business Centre in Birkirkara on Wednesday.

Western Union Business Solutions helps businesses, of every size, to manage their international payments and their cash-flow. The company has helped more than 1000 businesses in Malta execute international payments over the past years.

With a current staff that has grown to twenty-five employees over the past year, the new premises provide an improved working environment for the team with room for future growth.

The relocation also enables the company to continue its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint by following three principles: reduce, recycle and reuse. Every employee is encouraged to act responsibly to demonstrate that Western Union cares about the environmental impact it has as a company.

Among the characteristics of the building are double glazed facades, energy saving lighting and facilities for the recycling of carton and plastic materials.

“We value our employees and strive to provide an inspiring and safe working environment for our staff to develop and grow. We are also mindful about the impact of our operations on the environment and this office will enable us to reduce our water and electricity consumption and offers recycling facilities – all contributing to reducing our carbon footprint,” said regional vice-president of Western Union Business Solutions Frederic Simon.

In addition to Frederic Simon and Prof. Scicluna, Christian Traversini, director southern Europe and Jenny Pace, country manager Malta also attended the inauguration of the new premises.
