Maltco Lotteries has teamed up with the GRTU Malta Chamber of SMEs, Lotto Receivers Union and the Malta Band Clubs Association to launch a €400,000 scheme to upgrade its point-of-sale network.

All Maltco Lotteries agents will be eligible to receive up to 50 per cent of what they spend on upgrading their POS areas, up to €1,000, with the company naming 2018 the year of retail.

The scheme will run from next week, when all agents will be able to submit their applications of interest. Agents will participate on a first-come first-served basis from the date that their applications will be submitted to Maltco Lotteries offices in Iklin.

The scheme seeks to ensure that all agents provide a state-of-the-art entertainment environment for the player and a harmonised image across all Maltco Lotteries Points of Sale in the market.

Intralot Group Retail Director George Vassilaras pointed that digitisation is increasingly penetrating every aspect of modern shopping.

GRTU’s president Paul Abela said the union was pleased to be part of this collaboration and that he believes that this will be a very positive joint investment initiative. Consumer expectations have changed over the years and the retail sector needs to constantly upgrade to meet these demands in order to remain successful, he added.

LRU president Alfred Muscat expressed the LRU’s appreciation for Maltco Lotteries's willingness to help lotto agents refurbish their points of sale.

Malta Band Club Association president Noel Camilleri said the POS scheme "creates a win-win situation to all parties involved, including our member’s band clubs, and I am sure that this will be received very positively.”

Maltco CEO Vasileios Kasiotakis said the company wanted to offer local players the environment they deserve.
