1,580 cases have been filed in court since June against parents whose children were absent from school without a valid reason.

Justice Minister Owen Bonnici told Nationalist MP Ivan Bartolo that four cases had been judged and the fine paid, 494 were judged but the fine was not paid, 73 were judged but no fine was due and 1,009 were still pending judgement.
