A number of indigenous trees have been planted at St Paul's catacombs complex in Rabat.

The trees were donated by members of the Grow 10 Trees Project and were planted at this important archaeological site as part of Heritage Malta's commitments towards the environment.

The trees: bayleafs, olives and Għargħar, were grown by the members who donated them. The species were carefully selected and planted in selected areas so that not to cause damage to the underlying catacombs.

The Grow 10 Trees has been created for the non-passive tree-huggers who are willing to grow and nurture at least 10 local trees, though members are encouraged to grow much more than just 10 trees.

These will eventually be used for a possible afforestation once a suitable area is earmarked with the help of the government or NGOs.

St Paul’s catacombs are open daily.
