I refer to the articles ‘New drugs “making life difficult for enforcers”’ and ‘Identifying new synthetic drugs’, (March 5).

The first article says that: “Among its other tasks, Dr Cassar’s toxicology lab tests the urine samples submitted by Corradino Correctional Facility and Mount Carmel Hospital.” I would like to clarify that, at this point in time, we do not analyse any urine samples from any of the two. We would like to cooperate and offer our services to entities such as Corradino Correctional Facility but there are no agreements yet.

In the second article I was quoted saying: “It was also engaged by the government to conduct tests when legionella cases surfaced at Mater Dei Hospital and Mount Carmel Hospital, Dr Cassar said.”

I would like to clarify that BioDNA Ltd was not given any direct orders for testing for legionella at the two hospitals. We had to go through the whole tendering process before we were awarded the tender (our offer was the cheapest).
