A boxing drama entitled Raymond ‘Fight’ Beck is being staged from today at St James Cavalier.

The protagonist, played by John Montanaro, would do anything for his family; or what’s left of it. He returns to the ring in search of cash and glory but his real aim is to challenge Dyson ‘Tosa Inu’ Cumbo (Davide Tucci) for the ultimate Maltese middleweight championship.  While training for the big fight in the confines of the ring, Raymond realises that there are other battles that exist beyond its four-roped sides.

The play in Maltese, directed by Sean Buhagiar, also stars André Mangion, who wrote the script, Zep Camilleri and Kim Dalli.

It is a Teatru Malta project in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv and Arts Council Malta.

Raymond Fight Beck, suitable for people above 17 years of age, runs at St James Cavalier in Valletta from today until Sunday, March 18, at 8pm.

For tickets, log on to www.kreattivita.org or call the box office on 2122 3200.
