Have you ever thought about putting your arms to the ultimate test? It's time to do that at an arm wrestling competition being held on Saturday, March 24.

Organised by the Gozo Malta Armwrestling, the event will be held at the Lija Bocci Club (near Lija Tower) starting at 3pm.

Competitors should arrive at least an hour before the start of the event. The competition will be divided into four categories, three right-handed and one left-handed category.

The right-handed categories are divided according to weight (under 75kgs, under 90 kgs and an open category).

Since less contestants are expected for the left-handed category, the category will be an open one. Contestants in the under 75kg and 90 kg categories will be weighed on a digital scale wearing boxers.

The competition format will be double elimination (as opposed to knockout) so losing once does not lead to instant elimination. Instead, the losing competitor goes into a “losers pool” and will be eliminated after a losing a second time.

Thirty competitors have already enrolled, including Roland Qasha, the winner of the last arm wrestling competition, and the runner-up Angel Kacarski a foreigner residing in Gozo. The last competition was held in Gozo in February 2016.

The competitors will be expected to pay an entrance fee of €10 which will cover the expenses of the trophies and medals. The competition is free entry for viewers. The bar will be open during and after the competition.
