An Attard shop owner shot four times by a gunman last November has died following months in intensive care, police confirmed on Monday.
Raymond Grima was critically injured by a mystery shooter wearing a helmet who walked into his upholstery shop and opened fire on a Friday night in November.
The gunman fired 10 rounds, killing Angelo Mangion of Qormi and leaving Mr Grima in a critical state, before making a quick getaway on a motorbike.
Police had arrested a suspect in connection with the case a day after the shooting, only to release him without charge.
Last December, sources close to the investigation told Times of Malta that they were hoping Mr Grima would be able to help them glean more information about the shooter and his motive.
Mr Grima had initially responded well to medical treatment and was believed to be on the road to recovery. However, he subsequently took a turn for the worse and finally succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Mr Grima was a father of three.
