The first edition of the Malta Blues Festival will see three expert blues artists headlining, with guitarist Tony Grimaud returning to Malta from the UK after an absence of 15 years. The other two headliners are Italian guitar-player and songwriter Paul Audia and former Creepers guitarist Steven Van Der Nat.

Grimaud is a solo performer who, from a very young age,  left an impact on the local music scene due to his great songwriting. He is especially known for Songs for a New Generation.

Van Der Nat left local band The Creepers to return to his native the Netherlands. There, he formed Little Steve and The Big Beat, a professional blues band that tours Europe.

Audia’s style is inspired by artists like Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. His first EP, On Your Skin,  contains four songs that the artist composed arranged himself, and his personal version of Heaven, the classic Depeche Mode track.

The festival, which is being organised by Wavelengths, will be held on June 30 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall at University of Malta, Msida. Tickets are available online or by calling on 7906 3666.
