Floriana brushed aside Mosta by five clear goals at the National Stadium.

The Greens found themselves 1-0 up in bizarre circumstances.

Enrico Pepe swerved a seemingly harmless cross which was deviated by Davide Mansi past a stunned Andreas Vella.

Floriana took the wind out of their opponents’ sails few seconds into the second half when Paolucci made a darting run towards goal and Tyrone Farrugia pushed him down to halt his stride.

Darryl Agius was quick to point to the spot and Juninho Cabral kept his cool to double their lead.

On 67 minutes,  Fontanella sent a precise throughball into the path of Michele Paolucci who ran unmarked into the area, before slotting the ball past the onrushing Mosta goalkeeper.

Fontanella then got his name on the scoresheet after Juninho served the ball to the Italian striker who calmly beat Vella with a low shot.

Floriana’s fifth goal was in the offing and Fontanella notched his brace with a header ten minutes from time after Maurizio Vella had slipped an inviting pass to his Italian team-mate.
