MESSINA. On February 23, at University Hospital, Basel, to Carlo and Elizabeth née De Gaetano, God’s precious gift of a second child – MARCO, a welcome brother to Martina. Deo Gratias et Mariæ.

BUSUTTIL. On February 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY ANNE, née Sciberras, aged 71. She is survived by her husband Anthony (also known as Tony, of FBS Group/Foster Clark & B&S Group), her cherished and precious children Brian and Suzanne, her sisters Monica and her husband John Galea and Margaret and her husband Noel Holland, her Sciberras and Calleja cousins, her in-laws Marlene and her husband Lino Scicluna, Margaret and her husband Joseph Wismayer, Nanette, widow of Frank Busuttil, Therese, widow of Louis Busuttil, Wendy, widow of Charles Busuttil, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow Monday, February 26, at 1.30pm for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (entrance through the back gate). May she rest in peace.

CARUANA. On February 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, BLANCHE, née Picavet, widow of Joseph (ex-school headmaster), aged 97, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Dearly missed and never forgotten by her beloved children Emmanuel and his wife Anna, Mary, widow of Roger, Antoinette and her husband John, Rose-Marie and her husband Paul, her grandchildren Angele, Denise, Sophie, Michael, Joanne, Stephanie, Ann-Marie, Catherine and Therese, her great-grand­children, her sister-in-law Georgina, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, February 26 at 8.15am for Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at the Divine Mercy (Ħniena Divina) Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Sagra Familja, Naxxar, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CHETCUTI. On February 24, at home, MICHAEL (Cuti), aged 51, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Marianne, his children Martina and Michelle, his mother Carmen, his sister Sandra and her husband Richard, his brother Steve and his wife Desirée, his father-in-law Victor Ellul, his sister-in-law Roberta, his brother-in-law Pierre and his wife Anika, Nicky and her family, his nephews and nieces, relatives, friends and colleagues.Mass præsente cadavere, will be said tomorrow Monday, February 26, at 3pm at St Mary’s parish church, Attard, followed by interment at Gudja cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and carers for their sterling care and dedication. Special thanks to all his friends who supported him throughout this journey.

DARMANIN. On February 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, EVA of St Paul’s Bay, aged 90, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She went to meet her deceased sisters Berser, Agar, Abigal, Sisera, Edesa and her brother Esdron. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Debra and Sibalda, her many nieces and nephews, other relatives and her many friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, February 27 at 8am for Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at the Divine Mercy (Ħniena Divina) Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DAVIES. On February 21, at St James Hospital, Sliema, Chevalier ROGER DAVIES, KLJ BCrLJ, died peacefully, having celebrated his 100th birthday (the ton) the week before. Much loved and sorely missed by his sons Simon and Andy, and their families. A funeral and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 10.30am at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral, followed by a wake in the undercroft. No flowers by request but donations to the Seafarers’ Centre (Stella Maris Centre Apostleship of the Sea), c/o Ta’ Liesse church, Valletta, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

OLIVIERI. On February 23, JOE, aged 91, passed peacefully away at home, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Marie Louise née Said, his son Louis and his wife Elizabeth, his daughters Josette and her husband Steve Naudi and Brigid and her husband Patrick White; grandchildren Christina, Ryan and Michael, his sisters Maria Eastwood of Yorkshire, UK, and Doris Grech, his nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, February 27, at 1.30pm for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PADOVANI. On February 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPHINE, aged 79, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother John, her sister Margaret, her nephews Stephen and his wife Ann, Francis and his wife Marguerite, her nieces Bernadette and her husband Mario, Rosemary and her husband Franco, their respective families, relatives and friends. Mass, praesente cadavere, will be said on Wednesday, February 28 at 2pm at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Mater Dei Hospital for their care and support. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PAESANO. CORINNE passed peacefully away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her partner, Tim Jarvis, her children Carlo and partner Viviana Marconi, Iolanda and partner John Cremona, her grandchildren, Zoe and Emma, her brother Henry Scicluna, her niece, Hannah, friends and other relatives. The funeral will leave Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday, February 28, at 8am for Mass præsente cadavere at St Julian’s parish church at 9am, followed by interment at the Addolorata cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Requiem Mass

A Mass in memory of CHANEL MARIE BRINCAT, née Busuttil, on her 35th date of birth, will be cele­brated today at 8.30am at San Ġwann parish church. The attendance of relatives and friends would be greatly appreciated.

Furniture sale

A sale of antique and old furniture and collectibles, including books, holy pictures, antique Maltese lace and antique dolls, will be held at St Helen’s parish centre, Birkirkara (at the back of St Helen’s church) until next Sunday.

Opening hours will be daily between 9am and noon and from 5 to 7.30pm, and on Saturday and Sundays only in the morning.
