The film Segantini – Back to Nature, about the life and works of Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899), one of the most important 19th century Italian divisionist artists, will be screened at the Eden Cinemas as from today.

Segantini is considered one of the most eccentric artists of the 19th century, ever poised between divisionism and symbolism. He had a wild, impetuous nature, but was at the same time poetic, gracious and meticulous. He was an eccentric, a loner; he was a ‘mountain bear’ who could deeply feel the magnetic strength of the Alps, just as well as the pulsating energy of the big cities of the 19th century.

An exhibition of Segantini’s long-neglected works held at Palazzo Reale, Milan, two years ago attracted over 200,000 visitors in four months.

Segantini – Back to Nature will be screened in the multipurpose theatre at the Eden Cinemas, Paceville, as from today. For tickets, visit www.edencinemas.com.mt or call 2371 0400.
