Keeping the Dwejra Conservation Area safe is costing taxpayers around €41,000 a year, according to Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana.

Replying to a parliamentary question by MP Chris Said, she said that three persons were stationed there every day from 7am to 7pm. The Gozo Ministry gave the contract for this work by direct order, she added, giving the figure since March 2017.

Surveillance of the area is being conducted as the result of an agreement between the Gozo Ministry, the Tourism Minster and the Sustainable Development Ministry.
