I have just been on a visit to the Malta Horse Sanctuary, limits of Siġġiewi where I was very impressed with the work being done in aid of a dozen horses that had been abandoned or abused.

They are now so happy in their surroundings, even though the place needs to be rehabilitated.

All the members involved are voluntary workers who see to the daily needs of the horses. The expenses incurred include hay and water, electricity and water bills as well as paying the vet.

Their funds come mainly from membership, benefactors who sponsor a horse, children’s birthday parties with horse riding and two open days in spring and autumn.

I immediately became a member and I appeal to others to join and even volunteer as helpers.
