The 1973 documentary F for Fake, considered to be the last major film completed by US film-maker Orson Welles, will be screened by Kinemastik Film Klub today at 8pm at the Royal British Legion Bar, Valletta.

The film focuses on Elmyr de Hory’s recounting of his career as a professional art forger. His story serves as the backdrop for a fast-paced, meandering investigation into the nature of authorship and authenticity. Welles co-wrote, starred and co-directed the film with François Reichenbach, Oja Kodar and Gary Graver.

The screening forms part of Kinemastik’s cultural programme. The NGO, which also organises a yearly international short film festival in Malta, links young local film-makers to the world of cinema and offers them a platform for their work through local screenings as well as through worldwide distribution of locally-produced work.

F for Fake will be screened today at 8pm at the Royal British Legion Bar, 111, Melita Street, Valletta. For more information, visit the Kinemastik Facebook page.
