A proposal to turn Marfa Palace into a boutique hotel is now in the final stages of evaluation, according to Capital Projects Minister Ian Borg.

Having made it through the evaluation stage, the proposal will now be passed on to the Board of Governance.

He was replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi about four sites for which expressions of interest were invited in 2013, the other three being in Mtarfa, Mġarr and Mosta.

Six expressions of interest were received for Marfa Palace, a former artillery battery in Marfa also known as Wied Musa, but only one bid was made when a request was made for formal proposals. The bid was made by Exclusivity Malta Ltd.
