I refer to the item titled ‘Commission silent over Jimmy Magro “retirement”’ (February 10).

The Public Service Commission would like to point out it has no jurisdiction over Malta Enterprise.

Considering that at the time the findings of the Permanent Commission against Corruption were drawn up Magro still held an appointment within the public service, the Public Service Commission had considered it was in the public interest that he be suspended from the powers and functions of his office.

He was entitled to receive the half salary withheld from him during the period of his suspension since, by the time of his retirement, no charges were issued against him.

His retirement from the public service was in accordance with standing provisions.
