AGIUS. On February 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, AMABILE (also known as Paul) aged 70, of Msida, passed away suddenly, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved daughter Christine and her husband Patrick, of Australia, his son Luke and his wife Angela, his grandchildren Megan, Mya, Maisie, Jack and Kay, his partner Margaret Bugelli, her son Kenrick and his fiancée Nicole Magri, his sisters, Josephine and her husband Anthony Clayton, of England, and Rita and her husband Donald Lacombe, of Alaska, other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BARBARA. On February 18, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, SYDNEY, at the age of 93, went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved daughters Marthese and her husband Victor Cauchi, Elizabeth and her husband John Pullicino and Angele and her husband Mark Scicluna, his grandchildren Rebekah, Jonathan, Benjamin, Luke, James and Rachel, his sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia tomorrow, Tuesday, February 20, at 1.30pm for Annunciation parish church, Balzan, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Joseph Home, Santa Venera, would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. CALLEJA. On February 17, at her residence in Santa Luċija, ANNA, aged 76, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Joseph, her children Michelle and her husband Denis, Ludvig and his wife Claire, Ruben and his wife Mandy, her grandchildren Emma, Matthew, Mirhea and Ben, her brothers and sisters, in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Tuesday, February 20, at 7.45am for St Pius X parish church, Santa Luċija, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. CESAREO. On February 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARGARET, aged 91, of Msida, residing at Casa Arkati, Mosta, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Marisa and Lina, widow of Louis Micallef, her sister Carmelina, her nephews and nieces, her grandchildren Karl, Alexia, Konrad, Mark, Janine and Angele, her great-grandchild Nick, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Monday, February 19, at 1.30pm for St Joseph  parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment. Donations to id-Dar tal-Providenza would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. Jumble sale at Fatima Sanctuary

A jumble sale in aid of the Dominican missions in Albania is currently open at the parish church hall, Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamanġia.

The jumble sale, open between 9.30am and noon and 2 to 7pm, will run until March 10.

Any help and donations will be appreciated, the organisers said in a short statement.

Oasi volunteers

The Oasi Group of Volunteers are holding a bazaar at St Francis Square, Victoria, until March 2.

The bazaar will be open Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 12pm and from 4.30 to 7pm.

Donations of items are welcome, the group said.

St Joseph School past pupils retreat

A Lenten retreat will be held next month hosted by the St Joseph Blata l-Bajda/Valletta Past Pupils Association.

The retreat will be held on March 10, between 8.45am and 1pm. Mass will also be said with the participation of Fr Allister Aquilina.

Nadur stone cross anniversary

Prayers will be held next Friday evening to mark the 300th year of the stone cross in Nadur’s main square.

The cross, better known among the Nadur people as Is-Salib tad-Dejma, dates back to 1718.

In 2011, it was restored by the Nadur local council with funds from the scheme for the restoration of niches and other small historical places.

The prayer session on Friday starts at 5.45pm and there will also be a Via Crucis included in the programme.
