I was pleased to read in last week’s The Sunday Times of Malta that the Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams was stepping down. He should have resigned years ago.

Also in the same edition of the newspaper, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is quoted as confirming that he will step down after two terms in office. How Dr Muscat is still in office, with the same smug grin that Tony Blair used to swan around the country with, is beyond me.

In fact, how are Dr Muscat, Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri still allowed to hold office despite all the serious allegations that have emerged against them?

Furthermore, one of Dr Muscat’s loyal MPs, Glenn Bedingfield, recently wrote an unacceptable article on his blog about the proposed memorial for murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. Does he not realise (probably not) that he is talking about someone’s wife and mother?

Mr Bedingfield’s comments typify the level of smug aloofness these people who have been elected to run this country (into the ground) possess. Sadly, they think they are untouchable.
