CESAREO. On Februrary 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARGARET, aged 91, of Msida, residing at Casa Arkati, Mosta, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Marisa and Lina, widow of Louis Micallef, her sister Carmelina, her nephews and nieces, her grandchildren Karl, Alexia, Konrad, Mark, Janine and Angele, her great-grandchild Nick, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, February 19, at 1.30pm for St Joseph’s parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment.

GATT. On February 16, at Christus Rex, Birkirkara, Fr PIER THOMAS Gatt, Carmelite, of Santa Venera, aged 89, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers in Carmel, family and friends. The funeral leaves Christus Rex, Birkirkara, tomorrow, Monday, February 19, at 7am for the Carmelite Priory of Fleur-de-Lys where he will lay in public until 8.30am. Mass praesente cadavere will then be said at Fleur-de-Lys parish church followed by interment in the Carmelite grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GARBETT. On February 17 at St James Hospital, Sliema, DONALD (Don), originally from England, long-time resident of Mosta, passed peacefully away at the age of 87. He leaves behind his beloved wife Beatrice, children Caroline and Nick, stepdaughters Riki and Eva and eight grandchildren. The funeral service will take place at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rudolph Street, Sliema, on Tuesday, February 20, at noon. No flowers by request, but donations to the Lions Club International at St Paul’s Bay would be gratefully received.

PORTELLI. On February 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMEL of Sliema, aged 84, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Haroldine, his children Paul and his wife Liliana, John and his wife Denise, Peter and his wife Louise, James and his wife Rituccia and Maria and her husband Philip Farrugia, his nieces and nephews Sarah, Emma, Nathan, Nicholas, Timothy, Benjamin, Bettina, Joelle and Jamie, his brother Anthony and his sister Rhona, his brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow Monday, February 19 at 8am for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gżira, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am. SPITERI. On February 16, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, HUBERT J. (ex-managing director of Joseph F. Spiteri & Co. (1927) Ltd – tal-Kee Klamps), exactly on his 73rd birthday, widower of Mary Doris, née Xerri, passed peacefully away. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters, Oswald and his wife Ruth, Pauline, widow of Martin, Liliana Spiteri, Gloria and her husband Umberto Vella, Elizabeth and her husband Paul Vella, Dr Joseph F. Jr and his wife Carmen, the brothers of his late wife, Eric, Albert, Edwin, Patrick and Raymond, and their respective wives, her sister Lina, the widows of Charles and Franz, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia tomorrow, Monday, February 19, at 8.15am for Naxxar parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.45am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal and peaceful rest. The family wishes to thank the carers at Casa Antonia who took good care of Hubert over the past weeks and special thanks also go the dedicated team of carers and personnel at RW7 Ward, Karin Grech Hospital and the many medical and nursing personnel at Mater Dei Hospital who were diligently supportive over the past few years.
