JP Fabri has been appointed managing director of ARQ Group’s newly set-up economic and resilience advisory arm, ARQ Economic & Business Intelligence Limited, as well as a director of ARQ Group. He will also be leading the group’s blockchain and virtual currency advisory practice.
The new advisory set-up is focused on applying economics, market research and data analysis to consumers, companies and public policy and complements the group’s existing centres of expertise.
Tonio Fenech, chairman of ARQ Group, said: “Today’s external environment is highly disruptive due to legislative and regulatory changes, technology and the global interdependency of economies and companies. Any organisation, be it private or public that can make sense of its environment, generate strategic options and realign its resources accordingly will enjoy a decisive advantage. This is the essence of resilience building and this is the focus of the new centre of expertise that will be headed by JP who has international experience in resilience building.”
An economist by profession, Mr Fabri specialised in resilience-building strategies and was a technical expert to The Commonwealth Secretariat. He developed a governance framework and implemented it across nine countries in the Caribbean, Pacific and Africa. Prior to joining ARQ Group, he was the head of communications and investor relations of a London and Helsinki listed mining company, of which he still acts as Group Board Secretary.
He also formed part of Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi’s secretariat and worked as an economist within the Governor’s Office of the Central Bank of Malta. Mr Fabri followed post-graduate studies in economics and political economy at the University of Malta and the London School of Economics. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.
