APS Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to workplace equality as three women have filled new managerial roles within the bank’s Operations and Finance functions respectively.

Dorianne Farrugia, new senior manager (Operations), is responsible for the planning and management of back-office functions, including cash and cheque clearing, credit services and wealth management.

She holds a BA (Youth & Community Studies) from the University of Malta and is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She comes with 22 years’ experience in the banking industry, most recently as business manager and head of supply services.

Heidi Borg, the newly-promoted manager – Regulatory Reporting (Finance), has worked within the Finance Unit since 2001 and holds an Advanced Diploma in Risk and Insurance Management. She takes over responsibility for regulatory reporting, payroll and various ad hoc reports.

Maria Buttigieg, who has been promoted to manager – Management Accounting (Finance), has been working for the bank since 2008. She holds an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification. She started her career in audit and assurance services with an audit firm and has 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry. She is responsible for the preparations of monthly management accounts and oversees the day-to-day accounting function of the bank.

These appointments come closely after comments made by the bank’s Head of Strategy and Marketing, Hervé Delpech, at a recent seminar organised by the ‘100 Women in Finance’ and supported by APS Bank, said: “APS is taking workplace gender diversity very seriously and as a progressive organisation, the bank is committed to further encourage female employees to venture more into managerial roles.”
