AGIUS. On February 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, MIRIAM (Tal-Whippy), of Żejtun, residing in Pembroke, aged 59, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Victor, her son Luke and his fiancée Ilaria, her brothers Vince and his wife Jacqueline, Joe and his wife Doreen, nephews and nieces Christina, Keith, Matthew and Maria, her in-laws and their respective families, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Saturday, February 17, at 2.45pm for St Catherine parish church, Żejtun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. GATT. On February 16, at Christus Rex, Birkirkara, Fr PIER THOMAS Gatt, Carmelite, of Santa Venera, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers in Carmel, family and friends. The funeral leaves Christus Rex, Birkirkara, on Monday, February 19, at 7am for the Carmelite Priory of Fleur-de-Lys where he will lay in public until 8.30am. Mass præsente cadavere will then be said at Fleur-de-Lys parish church followed by interment in the Carmelite grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On February 13, at St Vincent de Paul residence, CARMELINA of Birkirkara, residing in Qawra, widow of Joseph, aged 78, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Raymond and his wife Grace, Robert, Richard and his wife Michelle, Jacqueline and her husband Mark, and Julie and her husband Edmund, grandchildren, Sarah, Emma, Ryan, Cristian, Dylan, Nicholas and Matthew, her sister Tessie, widow of Joe Borg, her in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today, Saturday, February 17, at 8am for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. PORTELLI. On February 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMEL, of Sliema, aged 84, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Haroldine, his children Paul and his wife Liliana, John and his wife Denise, Peter and his wife Louise, James and his wife Rituccia and Maria and her husband Philip Farrugia, his grandchildren Sarah, Emma, Nathan, Nicholas, Timothy, Benjamin, Bettina, Joelle and Jamie, his brother Anthony and his sister Rhona, his brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday, February 19, at 8am for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gżira, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am. SPITERI. On February 16, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, HUBERT J. (ex-Managing Director of Joseph F. Spiteri & Co. (1927) Ltd – tal-Kee Klamps), exactly on his 73rd birthday, widower of Mary Doris, née Xerri, passed  away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and sisters, Oswald and his wife Ruth, Pauline widow of Martin, Liliana Spiteri, Gloria and her husband Umberto Vella, Elizabeth and her husband Paul Vella, Dr Joseph F. Jr and his wife Carmen, the brothers of his late wife, Eric, Albert, Edwin, Patrick and Raymond and their respective wives, her sister Lina, the widows of Charles and Franz, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Casa Antonia on Monday, February 19, at 8.15am for the Naxxar parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.45am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal and peaceful rest. The family wishes to thank the carers at Casa Antonia who took good care of Hubert over the past weeks and special thanks also go the dedicated team of carers and personnel at RW7 Ward, Karin Grech Hospital and the many medical and nursing personnel at Mater Dei Hospital who were diligently supportive over the past few years.

ZAMMIT. On February 15, HELEN, of Naxxar, aged 94, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Paul, her children Michael and his wife Lisa Yvonne, Maria and her husband Alan, Rose and her husband Jeffrey, Rita and her husband Paul, Joseph and his wife Josette, and Elena, grandchildren Adriana, Alexander, Christiana, Jean Paul, Stephanie, Sarah, Angelique, Louisa and Paul, Rebecca and Jessica, and Andreas, eight great-grandchildren, her sister Gina of the US, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital today, Saturday, February 17, at 1.30pm for the Shrine of the Divine Mercy, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Radju Marija, Rabat, would be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
