Maltese skier Elise Pellegrin bounced back from her giant slalom disappointment when she placed 50th overall in the women’s slalom at the Pyeongchang Olympics yesterday.

On Thursday, the France-based skier was disqualified from the giant slalom race when she went out of course with only three gates to go.

However, the 26-year-old put that setback behind her during yesterday’s women’s slalom with two solid runs.

Pellegrin negotiated her way through the first manche of the race when completing the course in a time of one minute 05.18 seconds to finish 56th from 60th finishers.

In the second run, the Maltese skier recorded a faster time of 58.90 seconds to move up to 50th overall.

Pellegrin’s final result was still not higher than her effort in Sochi four years ago when she had managed to finish the race 42nd.

Meanwhile, the slalom race marked the end of Pellegrin and Malta’s participation in Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter took gold for Sweden ahead of Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener and Katharin Gallhuber (Austria).
