Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar is this evening organising a walking tour of Vittoriosa.
The maritime city welcomed the Order of the Knights of St John in 1530. From a small, humble seaside village it was to become the headquarters of the Order’s fleet until 1798, embellished by buildings like the Knights’ auberges and the Inquisitor’s Palace. The city was to continue to build on its maritime heritage throughout the stay of the British. Now the streets of Vittoriosa are replete with stories and unique architectural heritage that spans the centuries from medieval styles to the present day.
Walking along these streets, those attending will learn about the various historical periods that left an impact on the streetscape, hear about some of Vittoriosa’s illustrious sons, as well as other stories.
Participants are to meet at the Couvre Porte, today at 7pm. Reservations can be made online at www.faa.org.mt.
