The police and Customs Department managed a major coup on Monday when drugs were found on a container ship travelling via Malta.

The police said that the Panamanian-registered ship was scheduled to stop at various countries on its route around the world, but that there was no indication that any of the drug - 150kg of substance believed to be cannabis - was destined for Malta.

The drug was ready for sale in packets.

Investigations are underway.
