An information session for businesses that manufacture or import one tonne or more of a chemical substance from outside the EU was recently held by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority’s Technical Regulations Division.

Manufacturers or traders handling such a substance have new obligations as a result of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) regulation.

The aim of the session was to inform interested parties about all the necessary documents (dossiers) needed for registration prior to the deadline of May 31, 2018. During the session an insight was given on both the Reach and the classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) regulations. An overview on how a safety data sheet should be complied was also presented.

Anyone interested in further information may e-mail the MCCAA on info@mccaa.org.mt, call 2395 2000 or visit  the website of the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) below.
