Set up in 2007, Konnekt is launching a new, updated image and branding. Josef Said, one of the company’s directors, offers some insight.

Recruitment is known for being cutthroat. What are your views?

Recruitment is not cutthroat, at least not in our way of doing things. It requires our team to be fast, knowledgeable and complete. I believe that Konnekt is a different breed of agency. We are truly focused on, and loyal to, both client and candidate. This means that we will act in their best interest even if this comes at a cost to us. This strategy has enabled us to develop very close relationships and has ultimately enabled us to grow.

What are you doing to secure your market position?

Our focus has always been on people, technology and metrics. Konnekt has a very unique approach to people, centred around direct feedback, coaching and freedom to operate. Our investments in technology have always been significant and this has enabled us to scale up and be more efficient.

Metrics ensure that the direction we are taking is in line with what candidates and clients expect of us. I believe that the intensified effort on these focus areas, as well as the planned changes in our structure, will position us well for changes in the marketplace.

Why are you rebranding now?

This has long been on the cards and during the last quarter of 2017 we decided to kick off the process. Every company should renew and we have done a lot of it during the past few years.  Our rebranding is the externalisation of this internal process. I am very pleased with the end result.

What about the next 10 years?

I believe that since we started, we have disrupted the way people think about recruitment and the way a recruitment business should be run. We will continue to do that. We have a uniquely open culture and we will continue to strengthen it. Konnekt also has numerous ideas and I am sure that some of these will take off and be successful in the future. Having said this, the two major projects that will define Konnekt will be our internationalisation efforts and the implementation of our succession plan.
