The company’s origins lie in the construction industry, where it had the foresight 40 years ago to invest heavily in machinery and equipment that transformed not only the company but also indirectly the construction industry in Malta which still relied primarily on manual work.
Building on its success in the construction industry, the group chose to diversify into development. After 10 years, the company ventured into the hospitality sector with the opening of the Sunny Coast Resort & Spa in Qawra. In 1996 the Capua Palace, Malta’s first private hospital was opened, marking the group’s first venture into healthcare.
Over the years the group has been associated with a number of prestigious projects, ranging from infrastructural ones, such as the Valletta Cruise Port and Valletta Waterfront, to the restoration of some of Malta’s most renowned historic buildings and fortifications.
In recent years, the group has been involved in the restoration of fortifications on the seafronts in Valletta and Vittoriosa, as well as St Paul’s Catacombs in Rabat.
The primary focus of the development sector within the AX Group is quality and past projects such as Verdala Mansions and Falcon House are testament to this achievement. The AX Group of Companies continues to grow and the time has come for the group’s head office to relocate to larger premises. Late last year, works started on the new head office complex at Tarġa Gap, which will consist of two floors of expansive office space, along with a showroom, a block of smart residential apartments and extensive parking.
