An art exhibition of soft pastels entitled Interline by painter, sculptor and designer Anthony Lucian Cauchi opens today at the Gozo Ministry Exhibition Hall, Victoria.
Cachia uses different media but specialises in soft pastels. In his paintings he expresses his ideas and whims using multi-line drawing and hash style with coloured lines that intertwine with other lines.
His subjects vary with Maltese landscapes, plants, old architecture and the countryside among his favourites.
While his more figurative and objective work can express a degree of cynicism and intrigue, he also paints abstracts to depict more profound feelings.
Cachia was born in Qormi in 1948 and lives in St Julian’s. This is his 17th solo exhibition since 1975. He has also exhibited works in London, Helsinki, and Perugia and won medals in International Postal Union Art competitions in Lugano, Switzerland and Rome, Italy.
The exhibition is being held during office hours at the Gozo Ministry Exhibition Hall, St Francis Street, Victoria, until February 24. Admission is free. For further information visit www.anthonyluciancauchi.com.
